Wales U21s suffer 2-1 defeat in Albania

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY – Wales U21s began a two-game friendly double header against Albania with a 2-1 defeat in Tirana this afternoon.

Tom Pugh pulled a late goal back to halve Albania’s 2-0 lead, but it proved to be a mere consolation for Rob Page’s team.

Despite an encouraging first-half display, Wales found themselves trailing just three minutes after the restart when Chelsea prospect Roni Broja broke the deadlock.

Jack Evans, diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago, was named in the Welsh starting line-up along with recently released Manchester United midfielder Regan Poole.

The two sides will face each other again at 2pm, Tuesday at Niko Dovana Stadium, Durres.
